This past Tuesday, the 11th, the boys basketball team took on Clearfield and beat them 63-41. Then, as if that wasn’t impressive enough, they went head to head with Northridge on Thursday, the 13th. They killed them with an end score of 71-47.
It is no secret that our boys basketball team is doing amazing this season, so I went to senior Cameron Swapp to ask questions about the teams secrets to their success. All of the boys on the team have to feel so much pressure playing in front of a big crowd at every game, so I asked Cameron how he deals with all of the pressure, he said this:
“Just once you get into the game and kind of start playing you don’t notice the crowd as much and you get lost in the game and are just focused on playing.”
The next thing I asked Cameron was what he thinks the team does really well during games and what he thinks they could use a little work on. He said that the teams greatest strength is the way that they pass the ball. They can communicate with each other really well and they can get the ball from one side of the court to the other with the blink of an eye.
However, regardless of the teams success this season, there is always room for Improvement. Cam said what he thinks the team needs to work on is starting out strong. He said that sometimes they just start out really slow and it takes them a little bit to gain their momentum.
The last thing that I asked Cam was what he thinks the main reason behind the team’s victories are.
“I think that the way that we can pass is a major contributor to it, but the main reason is that we have all known each other for a long time, some even since kindergarten, so we know how each other play and are able to play really well with each other.”
So there you have it Davis. Make sure to go to all of the basketball games you can so that you can see our team dominate the court with your own eyes.
